A “cold” front blew in, after weeks of 90-100 degrees with extreme humidity, we finally got some relief. We have experienced 15 degrees cooler for a good 5 days. So, it was time to go outside to enjoy it!
I took a bestie kayaking. We took in all the nature, pointing out birds, turtles, and beautiful rocks to each other. We chat and also spend time in silence. We kayaked 4 miles down Sand Creek. And we enjoyed the peaceful journey.
I then spent an evening on a patio with another bestie, enjoying margaritas and Mexican as we shared deeply about our hearts and the areas of life, we needed support at the moment.
I spent Saturday by myself. I slept in. I worked on my writing, sang at my piano, went for a walk with a bestie around Jo Allen Lowe duck pond, and then spent the evening binge-watching Sullivan’s Crossing. I enjoyed some red wine, cheese, and dark chocolate, of course.
Sunday was my morning church responsibilities and then out to Ramona to enjoy a beautiful overcast day on some friends’ land.
Koby got to do all of his favorite things. He caught a fish with his HANDS, got to fish out on a boat, drove on the land, shot guns, and was 100% in boy heaven.
I enjoyed watching butterflies everywhere, sat on the back of “Black Beauty” with besties soaking in the country atmosphere, and the simple joy of being together as we watched our boys have the time of their lives.
Life, our great teacher, has taught me this lesson over the last few years. I write about it often; it is one I want you to grasp.
There is a posture towards life in Western culture that we must confront. It is the idea that “Somehow it is someone else’s fault that I am not happy.”
It is my job’s fault, it is my children’s fault, it is because of my husband/wife, it is because of my childhood trauma, it is because I don’t have any friends, it is because I don’t make enough money, the list could go on and on.
My dears, we must get brave enough to look at our lives and take our POWER back. We must be willing to look at ourselves in the mirror and say, “I am done allowing other people or other things to dictate my happiness.” We have the power by the Spirit to bring change in our lives.
In this biblical passage written by Paul to the Ephesians, it reminds us of the power we have access to:
“18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…” (Eph 1:18-20)
As our minds and hearts are enlightened, our eyes can then see and receive the riches that are available to us. The riches and hope for this life and that extends beyond temporal things.
The riches are the untangle pieces of life.
They are the mysterious pieces.
The pieces that you know when you FEEL it, but are not found in possessions or status or things made of matter.
They are the pieces that allow a heart to be FREE, content, and at ease.
They are the pieces that are found in simple moments on the back of a truck, watching your boys fishing. It is sitting and watching the beauty of the breeze sweeping through the Oklahoma plains as a golden Labrador chases butterflies.
It is putting “black beauty” in 4-wheel drive for the first time, pulling my blue Polka-Dot muck boots out and stomping through the tall grass, taking in the flowers and finding all the beautiful pollinators, and feeling PEACE.
There is no money, or job, or “person” that can give you this. This scared place is only found inside you, my dear.
You have the power to create a temple, a sacred place of rest, peace, and calm inside yourself. You have been given the power; it is there.
Nothing in life will ever be enough until we find “THIS” scared place.
“The only WEALTH you have in your life is the profoundness of the experience of this life.” -Sadhuguru-
It is your job, my dear, to seek this place, to find this place, to open your heart and mind up to see what hinders you from finding this secret place within yourself.
It is your job to find your BLISS, it is your job to be the captain navigating the waters of this life, so that you might experience the wealth, the riches, and the glorious inheritance that is available to YOU.
From my Heart
to Yours,
